To preserve the distinctive beauty of your amplifier's chassis and maintain its brilliance for decades, proper care is essential.
Our customers regularly ask us how to clean their amplifier safely. Whether your chassis is finished in 24-carat gold plating or mirror-polished surgical stainless steel, it can be tempting to use common household cleaning products.
Unfortunately, the most common mistake is also the most damaging: using aggressive chemicals or abrasive metal polishes.
The following guide presents the official maintenance procedure recommended by Jadis to preserve the beauty and longevity of your amplifier.
Why You Should Avoid Chemical Cleaners
The finishes used on Jadis amplifiers are luxurious and delicate.
Window cleaners, household degreasers, cleaning wipes and traditional metal polishes (such as Mirror®, brass or copper cleaners) should never be used.
These products contain aggressive chemicals or microscopic abrasives capable of permanently damaging the protective surface finish.
Potential Risks
- Loss of brilliance on gold or chrome finishes.
- Permanent micro-scratches.
- Surface discoloration.
- Premature deterioration of the protective plating.

The Maintenance Duo Recommended by Jadis
1. A Genuine Pure Cotton Polishing Cloth
The only cloth recommended for maintaining your amplifier is a genuine soft brushed cotton polishing cloth.
Widely used by watchmakers and jewelers, it safely removes fingerprints and fine dust without scratching polished metal surfaces.
2. Precious Metal Cream or Microcrystalline Wax
Option 1 – Precious Metal Care Cream
Choose an ultra-fine jewelry polishing cream formulated for gold and silver, clearly labeled as non-abrasive.
These creams safely dissolve fingerprints and skin oils while preserving the gold plating.
Option 2 – Microcrystalline Wax
Renaissance Wax, used by museums worldwide, provides outstanding protection against fingerprints, oxidation and environmental contamination.
Its protective layer remains invisible, does not yellow over time and withstands the operating temperatures generated by vacuum tubes.
The Official Cleaning Procedure
Step 1 – Safety First
- Turn the amplifier completely off.
- Disconnect it from the power outlet.
- Allow the vacuum tubes to cool completely (approximately 30–45 minutes).
Step 2 – Remove Dust Carefully
- Use a very soft brush (camera lens brush or cosmetic brush).
- A rubber air blower is ideal for removing dust around the tube sockets.
Step 3 – Clean the Chassis
Simply wipe the chassis gently using a dry cotton polishing cloth.
For additional protection, apply a very small amount of precious metal cream or microcrystalline wax to the polishing cloth, then immediately buff with a second clean cloth.
Before using any maintenance product for the first time, always perform a test on an inconspicuous area of the amplifier, such as the rear panel or beneath one of the transformers.
